Confound it Watson was an idea I conceived after reading several stories of Sherlock Holmes. Evidently Sherlock’s apartment was usually cluttered. The dead roses and stacks of books sort of speak to that. And, of course, what dog wouldn’t run off with a pair of gloves? The whole thing is a spoof, and was fun to paint.
